The ex-hospital, now a museum (but currently closed), occupies a slope at the northern end of town, where it operated for 17 years. By the time of its closure, $20,000 in equipment had been purchased by the community, including a specially modified wing just to cater for the needs of one dying miner. Unable to find staff, the hospital was shut down soon after the mines closed.

The Captains Flat Mens’/Community Shed formed in 2019 and moved into its current premises (the former Captains Flat Bushfire Brigade shed) in 2020.
The purpose of the Shed is to provide a context for social interaction in Captains Flat, so drop in and have a cuppa.
